The Island of No Cats
by EugeneTrivizas
Following
Pegasus and Mendios and
The Crocodile and the Dentist, our third adaptation of one of Eugene's magical stories
took place at the Barbican Children's Library on Saturday,
29 June as part of Medfest 2002, The Uk's Biggest Ever Festival of Mediterranean Culture.
As before this was a free Greece in Britain event for children aged 5 +.

The Story
Vindalou, a clean and dandy law abiding citizen of Catmandu has one small problem:
Cats! Just the name gives him the shivers. So he goes to see his docotor in hope
of finding a cure. But having tried all known tricks and methods the doctor has
no choice but to send Vindalou across the seven seas, to a place most mice can only
dream of: The Island of No Cats, where there are no cats at all, and the cheese grows
on trees. Of course, things don't quite turn out as Vindalou imagined...

What The Press Said
In a wildly comic tone, the outstanding duo of Aria Sandis
and Amy Entiknap outdid themselves one more time,
causing great hapiness and admiration with their excellent performance.Aria and
Amy did everything:they acted, they sang, they created sound effects and carried
away their audience with their punch and good humour, bringing sock-puppet theatre to an advanced level.
The many children (and adults) who were there enjoyed the lovely story which Aria creatively adapted into
a Bollywood epic...
the songs, with their upbeat disco and latin rythm would make a really good soundtrack. Such was the
excitement of the audience that people were peeking from outside the library
wondering what was going on inside.
